Super-Long Pulsewidth

The Palomar SLP1000 uses Super Long Pulses (up to 1000 ms), which deliver energy to the skin over a longer period of time than shorter pulses (<1 to 100 ms). This keeps the epidermis from overheating and dramatically reduces discomfort and side effects. By providing maximum protection to the epidermis, Super Long-Pulse Technology permits higher fluences to be used on darker-skinned patients than would otherwise be possible.

In hair removal treatments, Super Long Pulses spread heat beyond the hair shaft to the stem cells. Most lasers merely ablate the hair shaft. However, the SLP1000 disables the entire hair follicle. The result: permanent hair reduction.

Photon Recycling
The SLP1000 also features Palomar's exclusive Photon Recycling. In this process, light that has been reflected away from the skin is captured and reflected back toward the hair follicles. This amplifies the efficiency and effectiveness of each laser pulse.       

Three Handpieces for Versatile Treatments

• 12 mm Handpiece: Removes all types of hair from all skin types, including dark or tanned skin. Its large spot size allows rapid coverage of all body areas.
• 8 mm Handpiece: Treats larger, deeper leg veins and removes lighter, thinner hair.
• 4 mm Handpiece: Treats smaller leg veins and other vascular lesions with delicate precision.

 

Three Stages of Contact Cooling
All three SLP1000 handpieces incorporate three stages of contact cooling: before, during and after each laser pulse. Aggressive contact cooling protects the skin from burning, blistering, and other side effects.
